IBL-Reflection

I find the IBL lessons interesting. Unlike the science lessons we usually have in class, we could do our own experiments. I enjoy the lessons alot.

Especially the experiment on the mealworms. I did not expect I would get a chance to touch the mealworms. We did an experiment on which type of food does the mealworms prefer. After the experiment, my group members and I found out that our experiment was unfair as we did not use the paper to cover the experiment. The mealworms was only finding cover to hide from the light.
Our first lesson was on parachutes. We are to make parachutes and do the experiment. Our group couldn't find enought stopwatches. We had to change our set-up to do the experiment.

Our second lesson was to make areoplane. Our experiment is to find out if the material of the airplane affects the distance fly by the airplane. During the experiment, my group found out that it is tedious to use the 3 metre mesuring tape to measure. in the end, we change the distance to the time taken.
I learn alot of things and enjoyed in these 3 days. I hope there will be more activities like this. :D

Story of the hare and the tortoise. (tortoise perspective)

Once upon a time there was a hare and a tortoise. The hare was intelligent and thinks highly of himself and always look down on the tortoise. The tortoise was slow but hardworking.
One day, the hare jumped in front of me. “Hey tortoise!” he shouted “You crawl so slowly. When are you going to reach your destination?”
Feeling irritated, I replied “You are not as good as you think.” The hare laughed. “I won everyone in a race in this town except for you!” the hare sneered.
“Want to have a race with me?” the hare challenged. I continued to crawl trying to ignore the hare. “You are not afraid to lose are you?” Just before the hare was about to speak again, I looked at the hare. “Let’s have a race.” I agreed with a grinned on my face.

We both went to the starting line. All the animals in the town came to watch us race. “The hare will win for sure!” one of the animals whispered. I will teach the hare a lesson that he will never forget. I thought. The hare told me the rules and regulations of the race.

The voice of the hare rang the air when he shouted “go”. The hare dashed forward while I crawled slowly. The animals did not move a single inch of their body and watched me. Some started to comment after a few minutes.

Few hours passed, I was reaching the finishing point. I turned my head and saw the hare sleeping soundly under the tree. I glanced at him and shook my head. Slowly. Very slowly. I crawled to the finishing line.

All the animals were shocked to see me instead of the hare. One started to clap and cheer. The others followed. Hearing the clapping sound the animals, the hare dashed to the finishing line.

He stood at the finishing line. His eyes widen and his jaws dropped. “I lost to a slow tortoise,” he muttered to himself.

“Hare,” I called. “You should have learnt a big lesson. You should be hardworking and never be complacent. You should try your best in everything you do and not think too highly of yourself. This will cause you a great downfall.”

The hare looked at me with tears in his eyes and nodded his head.

Birthday Celebration for teacher

Introduction

This picture shows a scene in a classroom. The students are celebrating the birthday of the teacher. There are presents, a cake and snacks on the table.
Scenario 1- Normal
The students are singing and clapping for the teacher. The teacher who may be name Miss Koh is blowing the candles. The students may be very close to the teacher as they know her birthday. It is very thoughtful of the students to organize a party for the teacher.
Personal Response-Experience

I have organized a party for a teacher before. My teacher was surprised. I remembered the wide smile she had on her face.

Scenario 2- wrong and consequence
There is a girl at a side. She is pouring a drink into a cup. She has spilt the drink on the floor.

Personal Response

The girl seems to look shocked. If I were there, I would suggest her to use a mop or a cloth to wipe the drink she spilt. If she did not clean it, it will attract many ants.

Conclusion
I feel that having a birthday party or just by wishing the teacher a happy birthday is a respect for a teacher. It shows how much you care about the teacher.

Importance of hygiene

Introduction

This picture shows a scene in a coffee shop. There are many people there. This may be lunch time on a Sunday as there is a family eating together.

Scenario 1 – Normal
There is a woman wearing a black skirt buying chicken rice. This store seems to be very clean.

Scenario 2 – Normal
There is a man, a woman and a boy eating at a table. Perhaps, they are a family. Looking at their expressions, they seem to eating happily. Eating together as a family can bond them together. They can chat with each other when they are eating. They can also know more about each other.

Scenario 3 – Normal

There is a prawn noodle stall across the chicken rice stall. There is a man standing beside the stall. Perhaps he is the stall owner.

Personal Response

The stall is very dirty. I think having a stall so dirty is very unhygienic. No one will buy food from this stall. If a person but a bowl of noodles from this stall, the person may have diarrhea. If I were there, I would suggest him to clean up the stall.

Scenario 4- Cause and effect/ Wrong and consequence

There is a man wearing a pair black pant and carrying a cup of water. He has stepped on the banana peal and is slipping towards a woman who is wearing a strip blouse.

Personal Response

The banana peal that the man is stepping on must be an inconsiderate doings of a person. The person should not have thrown the banana peal on the floor. Someone will slip and fall. It will injure other people.
Conclusion

I feel that hygiene is very important. Without hygiene, people will get sick very easily.

compo question 2

I felt a poke. I turned around. Isabella passed me a piece of paper. It said if I want to go dancing tonight. Without looking at her, I nodded my head as I desperately wanted a time off for myself.

The bell rang. Everyone dashed out of the class.

“Hey!” Isabella exclaimed. “Let’s go.”

We walked together to the nearby pub. I sat down and decided to get a drink. Before I could do so, I felt a tap.

“Eat this,” Isabella whispered. I stared at the green coloured thing on her hand. Soon, I could recognize it was ecstasy.
“No way!” I shouted, pushing her hand away.

“Don’t be a spoilsport,” a boy wearing a blue t-shirt sneered. “Just eat it.”
At that instance, my mind was clouded with the recent arguments with my father. Ever since my mum passed away since I was seven, no one at home had cared about me. I wanted to forget about my problems and to have enjoy the night. Impulsively, I took it and put it in my mouth. I started to feel the drifting feeling in me, I felt so free and I was placed in a dreamy state. Throughout the night, I just did not know what was going on.

The next day, I managed to force myself to be in school. I was seating in class with Isabella and Alice. I was really lethargic and listless. I could not concentrate at all. Suddenly, my hands were shaking uncontrollably.
Alice noticed it. “Are you on drugs?” she asked as she pointed at my trembling hands.

“Yes,” I answered.
She told me that taking drugs is harmful to my health and told me to quit. She then said there was no medication for recovery of addiction. I did not bother to follow her advice.

Out of a sudden, Isabella who was sitting next to me collapsed and fell in unconscious. It caught the teacher’s attention and many people started crowding around. She was sent to the hospital by the ambulance. The doctor said that her liver was damaged and was in critical condition and no transplant was available. After a few hours, the doctor pronounced the death of Isabella. Torrents of tears rolled down my cheeks. I had just lost a close friend.

That night, I went to the pub again and took Ecstasy. Just then, the police dashed into the pub. The place was in chaos. Everyone was trying to hide their drugs. I followed. Everyone in the pub was arrested and brought to the police station. When I was in the police station, the policeman told me that Alice was the one who called the police. I was shocked but I was not angry. I knew she did the right thing. I was identified as one of the drug trafficker. The police called my father. He did not answer the phone. I was then pressed charges and sent to the rehabilitation centre for six months. Then, I realized all choices have consequences, I have learnt my lesson and vow to turn over a new leaf.

Safety at the play area

Introduction

This picture shows a scene of a play area at Yu Yang Primary School. There are a few pupils play there. It may be at a recess time.

Scenario 1- Wrong and consequence

There are two boys playing soccer at the play area. They are kicking the ball to each other. They seem to be enjoying themselves.

Personal Response.
They should not play soccer at the play area as the ball may hit or injure the pupils who are playing at the play area. I would suggest that they play at the field. It would be safer for the other people around them.
Scenario 2- (a) Cause and effect

There is a girl on the floor crying in pain. Her elbow is bleeding. She may have fallen from the monkey bars. A boy who is wearing a watch is running towards her. From the expression on his face, he seems to be worried. Perhaps the boy may be the girl’s brother.
Personal Response

It is very kind of the boy to help the girl. I would suggest the boy to bring her to a teacher or to the sick bay
(b) Cause and effect

There is a boy hanging on the monkey bar. He seems to be scared and shocked.

Personal Response

The boy should come down from the monkey bars and help the girl.
Conclusion

Everyone should obey the safety rules at all times. It will prevent many accidents from happening. It will be more enjoyable when no one gets hurt.

Observe safety rules at all times

Introduction
This picture shows a scene at a school staircase. Students and teachers are going up or down from the staircase. It may be recess time or dismissal time.
Scenario 1- Cause and effect

There is a boy rushing down the staircase. He has knocked into a female teacher who is holding to a pile of books and some of the books are slipping down.
Personal Response

In my opinion, what he is doing is wrong. It is very dangerous to run down the stairs. He may injure other people or himself. He may trip and fall. I feel that he should stop running and apologize to the teacher.
Scenario 2- Cause and effect

There are two students, a boy and a girl, are helping the teacher to pick up the fallen books.
Personal Response

It is very kind of them to pick up the books for the teacher as it will safe the time for the teacher to pick it up. I think other pupils should learn from their kind act.

Scenario 3- Cause and effect

There is a man climbing up the staircase holding a hot coffee. The boy is running towards him. The man is holding his hand up, signaling him to stop.
Personal Response

The boy may knock into the man causing him to spill the coffee. The hot coffee may scald the boy or the man.
Conclusion
Everyone should observe safety rules at all times. To prevent accidents from happening to anyone around us.

There is woman wearing a Chinese dress standing beside him. Perhaps, she is the man’s wife. The man is smiling. He may be happy to see his grandchildren.
Scenario 2- Wrong and consequence

The boy wearing black pants is snatching a present with a bigger boy.
Personal Response

I feel that what they are doing a wrong. They may fall and injure themselves. If the present is fragile, when they drop it, the present may be damage. Personally I feel that they should stop snatching the present and give the present together.

Scenario 3- Normal

There are many food on the wide table. There are two young children, a boy and a girl at the table. The boy is pointing at the cake. I think they are excited to eating the cake. There are some adults preparing the food for the buffet.

Beach (Oral speech)

Introduction

This picture shows a scene in a beach. The place is crowded with people from all ages. They are all engaged in various activities. It may be a holiday or a weekend.
Scenario 1- Normal

There is a lady wearing a pair of sunglasses strumming on the guitar. She has a wide smile on her face. From the expression on her face, she seems to be enjoying herself. She is singing to the girl who is sitting on at her feet. Perhaps the girl may be her daughter. They are well prepared with food and drinks.
Personal Response
I feel that it is good for a parent to bring his or her daughter to the beach for leisure. They can bond together and create a better relationship between them.
Scenario 2 – Wrong and consequence

There are two boys playing ball. They are passing the ball to and fro. They may be brothers or good friends.
Personal Response

I feel that what they are doing is dangerous. They may throw the ball out to sea. The boy may wade out to sea to retrieve the ball. If the ball is too far from the shoreline, the water may be too deep. The boys may drown. If I were there, I would tell them to go to the park to play ball as it will be safer there.
Scenario 3- Wrong and consequence
A little girl is riding on a dinosaur float. She is paddling out to sea. It seems that she is playing with the boy who may be her brother.

Personal Response

I feel that it is dangerous for her to wander out to sea. If she lost her balance, she may fall in the deep sea and drown. It is dangerous for two children to play alone in the sea without adult’s supervision. They should have their parent with them in the sea to watch them. The adults can help them if they drown.
Scenario 4- Normal

There are two girls wearing swimsuits building a sandcastle. The sandcastle is decorated with seashells and sticks. There is a boy wearing swimming trunks carrying a pail of water to the girls. The boy may be the two girls’ brother.
Personal Response

I feel that it must take a long time to build a beautiful castle. It must be tiring to build a sandcastle as we must have a lot of resilience and passion.
Conclusion
The beach is a great place for family and friends to spend time together. It is also a great place for relaxation.

Super Kids Motivational Camp (13 April 2010)

Super Kids Motivational Camp

This camp inspire me alot. This camp taught me to believe in myself. To put down my "mask" and find out who i am without it. I know how to appreciate my two special ANGELS my parents. They took care of me for 12 years and cared about me.

The story of Candice and YY's life story gives me a very great impact in my life. Candice told us about her experiences, how she treat her parents when she was a teenager. She did not want us to make the same mistake as her. YY told us how persistant he was. He worked hard to achieve his goals and was resilient. The third story is about the eagle. Not leaving its nest. the trainer shared with us a quote with the story, Whatever doesn't kills you, makes you stronger. The forth one is about the eagle and the sheep. The eagle is the leader while the sheep is the follower. I would want to be the eagle as the eagle knows what they want in life, take 100% responsibility. i would not want to be the sheep as they follow blindly, not thinking of their own lives and they blame, complain and give excuses. There is a quote that inspire me. It is " If you care at all, you'll get some results. If you care enough, you'll get incredible results" by Jim Rohn.
This camp taught me how to plan my future and some skills. Example, the key idea tree. The trainers told us that to succeed in PSLE. You will succeed in LIFE. I hope in the future we could have more activities like this. I enjoyed myself on this three days and learnt alot of things.

blogging again... on 10 March 2010

Looking at the results I have this CA1, I wasn't very happy with my results. I got a lower marks than i expected and the marks did not reach my target. Only for one subject, mother tongue. Before the exams, I thought my mother tongue would score the lowest and the others will be so much higher than it. Actually, I thought my maths would be the highest among all my subjects. Sadly, it did not. I had alot of careless mistakes in the paper. This coming March holiday, I would find a way to reduce such mistakes.
Things doesn't always go the way it should be, So..... expect the unexpected! :)

Thoughts Of The Day (12/2/10)

Today the results of Chinese New Year decorations is out. Everyone in the school is looking forward to it. When the teacher starts to say "the winner for P6 is......" Everyone starts to cheer for their class. It shows the picture of our class. I was shocked. My class was rejoiced. All the classes worked very hard on the decorations. They put in alot of effort.
I hope 6A would not be complacent and arrogant. We will work hard and win the other competitions.

Thoughts Of The Day (11/2/10)

Today we have our Modular CCA. It is the last lesson. It was getting much more fun and it ended so quickly. Today, our class got a person to dress up as a tiger and dance on the stage with us. Everyone was laughing when the tiger appeared.
I know it is difficult and warm wearing the tiger costume. I thanked the three people, Hazim(CNY decoration), Christophor, Akmal for giving us a wonderful time.

Thoughts of the day (10/2/10)

Today is the judging day of the chinese new year decoration.. We did the touch up on the class. We had a 6A "tiger". We maked the "tiger" walk around the 6th level, to see how other people would react. Sadly, I have rehearsal. I did not manage to see it. I wonder how my look like after the touch up.
I hope our class would win it and our effort won't go to waste. I am looking forward to the results.

Thoughts Of The Day (9/2/10)

Today my class, 6A decorated the classroom for chinese new year. I have never seen so much teamwork. Every single one of 6A did a contribution to do up the classroom. Everyone worked as a group. Within one hour and thirty minutes, our class is almost fully decorated.
I really hope that we will win. Even if we did not win, we have given our very best. Like what Miss Chia said last year, In a race, there can only be ONE winner but all the participants are CHAMPIONS.

Thoughts Of The Day (8/2/10)

Today Miss Chia told us about having a plot, characterization, planning.

Introduce problem (create suspense): Using of thoughts, sound, questions.

Climax(exciting) :short sentences to create impact. action (struggle/fight), emotion.

After this lesson, I found out that the procedures is as important as the results. Having a good plot would have a good story.

Thoughts Of The Day(5/2/10)

Today Miss Chia is back. She told us that we must master the punctuation. She said when we were in the secondary school next year, the teachers there would not have time to teach us this. I agree with the part when Miss Chia said it is better to go to a good school than a normal school. When you don;t know any questions. The pupil in the better school, might know the answers and might help you with it. If you go to a normal school, you do not know how to do a question. The pupils there also do not know. It means that you will not learn anything.
I will study on the punctuations and dialogues. I will master them and make them on my finger tips.

Thoughts of the day (3/2/10)

Today Mrs Wee, my school principal talked to us about solving problems that always distract us or stopping us from studying. example, playing computer games. She said that that could be a reward when we finish the homework or studying.
I will try to use her advice and try my best to study four hours a day.

Thoughts Of The Day (2/2/10)

Everytime I see those primary ones and two pupils. It makes me remember when I first stepped into Changkat Primary School. That time, I was new to the school and did not know anyone in the school. I was afraid . Soon, I make many friends. In a blink of eye, six years have pass. I will leave this school in 11 months time. There are many memories in this school that i would never forget... How I wish I could be in this school even longer. Sadly, time waits for no one and everyone must move on.

Thoughts Of The Day (1/2/10)

I had read Miss Chia's blog about her experience of going to RGS today. She said that she could sense of PRIDE there. I really hope I could go to a school that I want. I had gone to Chung Cheng High (main) as my brother was studying there two years ago. The school is big and the students there are really creative.I also went there with my friends to perform at their school. We are allowed to join their activities. They had a place for people to create lanterns, painting and ect... That trip to that school makes me think which school will i go in the year of 2011......

Thoughts Of The Day (29/1/10)

Today, we learnt more about dialogues. Miss Chia gave us some guidelines. This is my summary of the guidelines.

Guideline1 Vary your verbs. Find a verb to replace the word "said" to reflect hot the person or character say it.
Guideline2 Use descriptives. Example, adverb and desriptive phrases.
Guideline3 Vary your structures. If quotation and long, don't indentify at the end, do at the beginning or in between.

Guideline4 Use narrative to chow action. Show what is happening

Thoughts of the day (28/1/10)

Today in english class we read a short story called Colin's Candle. It was adapted from Colin's Christmas candle by Barbara Rattery. The setting of the story is at Irland. Colin's father was at sea and did not come back for seven days. Colin and his mother were worried.
I learnt alot of things from this short story. I learnt how the author changes scenes, her style of writings and dialogue.

Thoughts Of The Day (27/1/10)

Today in english class Miss Chia told us about Philosophy. It is about lying. I always thought lying is wrong. After this lesson, I found out that lying might not be bad. It can be also acceptable. In the negative side of telling the truth might hurt the other person's feeling. Lying can also lose trust from other people.

I learnt that not everything is black or white. There is always a grey.

Thoughts Of The Day (25/1/10)

Today in english class Miss Chia talked about forums. She wants us to collect the beginnings of forums and use it in our speeches. I think it is a great idea to create a speech book and put it in our pocket everyday. It will help us alot.

I started a study group today. These are my group members : Ee Hooi and Diviyaa. Ee Hooi is our group leader. I hope this will help us alot and excel in our studies.

The story on Integrity and discipline

The story is about a boy giving his saving to David, the person who sold tickets for a school play. The boy gave the money to David for the tickets even though it was voluntary; he watched the play yesterday and was late. David said that he did not need to pay as no one knew he did not gave the money for donation and there wasn't any difference.. The boy said a strong phrase which was " I know the difference." I think he has integrity. I need to learn more from the story.

It was an incident that happened when I was on my way to my tution centre. I was in a MRT train (Mass Rapid Transit). It was rather crowded as it was a weekend. I was sitting down playing my phone. At Paya Lebar station, an elderly woman walked in. I looked around and saw many people pretended to be asleep. I decided to give up the seat to her. The elderly woman thanked me with a wide smile. I have to thank my teachers for teaching me what Integrity means.

Thoughts Of The Day (22 Jan 2010)

Today in english class, I have learnt three words that hold us back. They are Inhibition, complacency and habitation. The meaning of Inhibition is embarrassment and worry. To show us an example of the word, Miss Chia choose a few people to shout from a distance, to each other. It started from can I do it? Yes i can! Then Miss Chia choose Po Yen and Megan to shout I Love You and I love you too. I was shocked. But they did not have inhibition. I agree that I need to learn more from them.

Thoughts Of The Day (21/1/10)

Today in class, my classmate, Zong Rui shared with us his plot for the composition. The plot was about a boy was timid and became brave after the incident. Zong Rui said that the boy fought with the robbers. I feel that it is not realistic. A young boy could not fight with two dangerous robbers.

After today's english lesson,I decided to change part of my plot. I found many loop holes in my plot. I hope my plot will turn out well.

Thoughts Of The Day (20/1/10)

In english class today Miss Chia recommended us to read page 3 of the Sunday Times. It is about Google's China headquarters shutting down. The reason is the cyber attack in China can risk globle franchise and business of Google. Miss Chia also told us that China has a blockage of twitter, facebook and Youtube. I had experience it when I was in beijing last December. I am glad Singapore gave us freedom on the internet but freedom does come with responsibilities

Miss Chia said, in compositions we must make the reader experience a range of emotions like going on a roller coster ride. Doing that It would draw the reader into the story and them feel for the characters. We also need to create an excellent eay to let your readers infer the backgrounds or personality of the characters.

After today's lesson, I know what is happening in china and how to make readers' emotion go "up and down" during the story.

Thoughts Of The Day (19/1/10)

Today at school Miss Chia showed us two compositions done by my classsmates, Zong Rui and Chester. Miss Chia told us to vote one of the stories. I voted for Chester's story which was story 2. The reason i voted for his is,it has more actions and i can feel the scenes. I feel that Zong rui's story was too dramatic and the main character did not have much reations. Some of my classmates gave some comment on it. These are the comments.

Story 1

1)Vocab and good phrases(interest and vocab)

2) Not enough reactions form character

3) Don't like too much attention on the girl(Jeanie)

4)"Lumpy" big lump on main events

5) too dramatic

--- not realistic

---(subject)

--- exaggerated

Story 2

1) main character not outstanding bad character stand out

2) too gory(subject)

3)not enough emotion description

4)has more action

5) not realistic with law

---carry weapon (open to assumption)

Miss Chia also told us about her experience in her friends house. She recounted that she was at her friend house having dinner. Her friend called her son to have dinner at the dinner table. The kid did not want to go there and ask his father if he can eat dinner infront of the television. No matter how many times Miss Chia's friend shouted at her son to eat eat his dinner in the dinner table, the boy kept pestering his father and tried to negotiate with his parents. After dinner, the boy's father tried to persuade him and held his hand. The boy shouted at him. He ran to his room. Miss Chia was told to go and talk to the boy. The boy said that her mother was unreasonable and siad that he wanted sticker to feel good. The boy was very intelligent and was bright. I hope he will learn to be less stubborn and lead a great future.

Thoughts Of The Day (18 January 2010)

Today in english class Miss Chia about compositions and Narative writing. She told us about the length of the sentence and story.

I agree on the point to put ourselves in the readers' shoes and pose questions. So that we could give more desription to tie up loose ends.To make all characters stands out on their own and characters cannot be forgotten. I will try to work on them.

Miss Chia mention a quote To be a good writer, you have to think like the reader. To be a good reader, you have to think like a writer. THEREFORE read like a writer. write like a reader. I am still thinking what is the meaning of it. I hope i would understand it soon.

Thoughts Of The Day (15 January 2010)

Finally it was the last day of the week. Today Miss Chia taught us about narative text. She showed us a story. Abraham Chan told us about the negative things about it. I have to agree that he explained it really well. I think I should learn more things from him. Miss Chia also told us about the finishing line, ideal situation and the current reality. There is also a gap called the expectation. I hope I will meet my goals for my PSLE.

Thoughts Of The Day (14 Jan 2010)

Today, Miss Chia showed us the 8 smart rules. The rules are very useful and i will try to use them in my work. After the hip hop dance in school, I had to rush to my guzheng practice which starts at 3.45pm. I also needed time to get ready. It deepen my understanding the meaning of "the time waits for no one". In the future, I will treasure time and manage it well.

Thoughts Of The Day (13 Jan 2010)

Thoughts Of The Day

Today we had spelling in class. Ernest was the first one to finish it and got full marks. Miss Chia told him to tell the whole class how he managed to finished the spelling fast and efficiently. He told us that he memorised the words. He then jumble up the words and test himself. Chester gave another suggestion about it. He said that we should only learn the words and try our luck. I don't think is a good idea as it is like gambling with the marks. Jun Fong also mention a quotation " Lady luck is not always with you". I agree with the quotation as people will not always be lucky.

In the future, when we have a spelling, I would spend more time learning it to get full marks.

November 19 2009 5B will be gone forever

I know that time will always continue and it will stop for no one. Even though I will be going to 6A next year, i feel sad . I really hope i won't leave 5B. I will miss 5B. Hope 5B students will score good for their exams. Good Luck 5B! Link me!

Mid Autumn Festival At CHangakat Primary School

It was the Mid authumn festival. I was a performer for the Mid Authumn performance. When it was the guzheng's members turn to perform. I wasn't nervous as much as I was a few performances ago. After the performance, we moved our Guzheng back into the music room. It was so tiring as we have to carry alot of them. After awhile we were settled down in the music room. Miss Lee, my teacher in charge went to get the mooncakes for us. After eating the mooncakes we went to play the lanterns in the field. Then I played catching in the quadrangle with my friends. I enjoyed my time at school. Hope our school will have another celebration again.

A field trip to the botanic gardens rainforest

On 12/8/09, I went on a field trip to the Botanic Gardens Rainforest. I realised the Rainforest and the nature is an interesting place. When my group reached the Botanic Gardens, we were introduced to our tour guide, Mrs Lee. Mrs Lee taught us the three layers of the forest. It is the Emergant layer, Canopy layer and the undergrowth layer. After awhile on the outside of the forest, we were finally brought to the Rainforest. Mrs Lee showed us many plants in the forest. I was facinated by the Liana, Drip Tips and the Coffin Tree. The Liana is a climber. The Liana uses the twining stems method to climb to the sunlight. I admire the Liana as they never stop climbing until they reach the sunlight. When it rains, Drip Tips will channel the rainwater away from the leaf to the ground. I find the Drip Tips clever as they could reuse the rainwater by taking it in. The Coffin Tree was used to make Coffins. At the Botanic Gardens Rainforest, there was a Johore fig growing on the Coffin Tree. After Mrs Lee told us what will happen in a hundred years time, I thought that the Johore fig is a betrayer as it will take over the Coffin Tree and the Coffin Tree would die. We should preserve the Rainforest as other tourist could enjoy it, keep the animals and plants and could give us education. I enjoyed the trip as i learnt alot more about plants.Even though it was tiring, I hope I could come to the Botanic Gardens Rainforest again.

Why I love my home Singapore

Singapore is my homeland, this is where i was born on the year 1998 when singapore is only 33 years old. I love Singapore for it peace where people live happily and save. There is no war between our nation. Our miltary defence in singapore is now stronger at our own defence. I also love Singapore as we live together regardless of race language or religion. we share our void decks as many people uses it for different things.Example, holding weddings, funerals, dialysis treatment for the sick and for children to play. Singapore also have alot of campaigns, to prevent bad and unhygienic behaviors. Examples, anti spitting, pest killing, anti drug, clean and green etc. Singa the lion Singapore's mascot helps to make changes in our nation. Today, we will be able to see Singa again in our National Day Parade to get Singaporeans to be more courteous country. Thank You Singapore for giving me the best 11 years of my life. Happy Birthday Singapore!!!

NE Show

My Favourite item of the NE Show is the parachute performance by the Red Lions as they could land perfectly on the ground they could even line up in an orderly manner before landing. I think they should have alot of practice before trying it as it is very dangerous

my feelings about CNY class decoration competition (not the real date of post)

Although we did not win the competition,I believed Miss Chia and my classmates had put in alot of effort decorating the class as it turn out wonderful. Some of my classmates even stay back after school to complete the decoration. Miss Chia also shared with us about winner vs champions and tells us that if we put in effort there is no regret. "In life, you can't win all the time.failures are there to shake you up." (quote by Miss Chia) From this event, I am closer to my peer and I believe 5B will be an outstanding class in 2009.
